Problem
The timeline exhibit in the main reception area of Building 1 is outdated
in both its content and its design philosophy. In its current state, the
exhibit does not inspire visitors to learn more about the institute or excite
them about the current happenings and innovations that the institute
provides. The problem as it has been proposed, is to create a new and updated
timeline exhibit which will not only fulfill the functions of an exhibit, but
will also be engaging, intriguing, and easily updateable with the times.

Solution
The solution to this problem, is to create an exhibit which creates an
authentic experience which can be digested with as many senses as possible. a
space which generates a sense of security and curiosity so that visitors are
excited to learn more. By incorporating senses like; touch, sight, and sound
we can further engage visitors through the concept of “hands-on, minds-on,
hearts-on” and further reinforce our intended goal. Through this design
philosophy, I have created a physical and digital exhibit which celebrates
the accomplishments of researchers and the contributions of donors of Sanford
Burnham Prebys. Philanthropy and breakthroughs through which the people that
have contributed to its legacy can speak directly to visitors and inspire the
    next generation.
